On the first Sunday of the month, all the large national museums in Paris are free for entry. That means Musée du Lourve, Musée d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou and Musée Rodin are all free for entry! This time we chose Rodin, coz this is the only museum that I have never been. Actually I am not quite interested in sculptures, but why not for a visit for free?
It's a small gallery with not many people here, even though it's free. I can imagine how many people here in the normal days.
I particularly like the chamber of love on the ground floor. Over there you can found different sculptures with a pair of lovers portraited in different ways. As Xiaoli said, it's a posture study here;)
I like this LA MAIN DE DIEU (the hand of god) very much. It's a celebration of love shaped by the God. I seldom see a sculpture like this! The scale, composition, the color tone and textile are so right. I like Rodin to keep the other parts rough so as to fully utilize the characteristic of the medium itself. This is a masterpiece!
By the way, after visiting Rodin, we were supposed to meet Orsay. But, Orsay got so many lovers today that you don't even see the end of the line! So we forget it coz we have been there anyway. So, even though it's free of charge, your pay is time. It's a good idea to go to a small national museum today, but not a huge museum.
