Anselm Kiefer - très fort, très fort!

There is a contemporary art gallery+bookstore in rue Vieille du Temple that is worth going, called Yvon Lambert. Now they got three temporary exhibitions but I would say they are just so-so. However, the bookstore is incroyable! It's small but its collection is precise and very, very interesting. Here, I found a stunting artist called Anselm Kiefer

Anselm Kiefer was born in Germany. He is a painter, photographer and sculptor, and he also works on installations. Last year, he had a huge exhibition in Grand Palais called "Monumenta". I wish I were there! His works incorporate materials like straw, ash, clay, lead and shellac. His works are full of textures, tensions and complexity... you can sense a mind of darkness in his pieces. Compare with his way of presentation to Jackson Pollock and Cy Twombly, he is less playful but more sentimental.

Just have a glance at his works from the book is enough to drive you to hell! C'est très fort! I wish I can see his pieces in a large scale. That must be very powerful!
